Senior Designer (Focus Engineering and Surveying LLC, Midvale, UT)
Complete projects from start to finish on a variety of project types including steel, concrete and masonry structures. Reviewing and addressing construction administration items such as submittals, RFIs and field letters. Stamp and certify structural drawings with an active Professional Engineering license. Work with local jurisdiction and city engineers to help in the permitting process. Mentor and train younger engineers in structural design principles and technical abilities. Network with perspective clients to win projects. Write engineering proposals of perspective work for approval. Attend marketing events to promote company services. Innovate and improve structural design tools. Review structural drawings of other engineers to ensure code compliance and proper structural engineering. Structural design and detail of earth retention structures. Provide structural design, calculations, and details for seismic retrofits of existing structures. Calculate and design structural elements for industrial and manufacturing buildings. Calculate, draft, and detail commercial structural engineering projects including steel, concrete, masonry, and tilt-up buildings. Utilize spreadsheets and other structural design projects to calculate all elements of various commercial buildings, including beams, columns, floors, roof, foundation, and footing. Draft construction documents. Draft structural connection details as required by the project. Coordinate with clients through the design phase on architectural layouts and how they interact with the structural design. Provide necessary field support during the construction phase of the building. Collaborate with team members to complete projects in the given timelines. Consult with clients on the feasibility of various architectural elements. Requires up to 5% domestic travel for site visits and Client meetings. Salary: $113,651-$120,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as an Engineer, Civil Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving structural engineering design.
Must also have the following special skills: 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering design for commercial buildings (including wood, steel, concrete, masonry, PT slab design, and tilt-up). 5 years of professional experience utilizing structural finite element analysis and design software (including RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Elements, and STAAD). 5 years of professional experience utilizing CAD drafting software (including AutoCAD and Revit). 5 years of professional experience drafting construction documents and structural connections. 5 years of professional experience utilizing Microsoft Excel for calculations. 5 years of professional experience collaborating with architects, clients, and construction teams. 5 years of professional experience mentoring and training younger engineers in technical abilities. 5 years of professional experience in networking to potential clients. 5 years of professional experience in the design of earth retention structures. 5 years of professional experience reviewing work of other engineers to ensure code compliance. 3 years of professional experience developing innovative structural design tools to improve efficiency.
