Camp Kostopulos
Since 2016, FOCUS has partnered with the Kostopulos Dream Foundation to provide surveying, engineering design, and construction management services for Camp Kostopulos, a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering recreational and growth opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities. Most recently these projects include a parking lot expansion, Pavillion restroom, septic and site design for a cabin, and most recently, an ADA-accessible splash pad.
Camp K is a nonprofit organization, so the project operated under a limited budget, with much of the work completed by volunteers and through discounted labor. To help manage expenses, FOCUS took on responsibilities that are typically handled by a general contractor. These included selecting suppliers, sourcing materials, and making key decisions related to value engineering and construction. FOCUS also coordinated directly with excavators and construction crews, addressing on-site challenges and securing reduced rates for products and services. In addition, FOCUS worked closely with the Salt Lake County Municipal Services District and Health Department, Salt Lake City Public Utilities, the Emigration Canyon Metro Township, and the Emigration Canyon Council to navigate required reviews and approvals, ensuring the project stayed on schedule and reached a successful completion.
