The day-to-day of doing site civil CAD: Designing master developments with subdivisions containing single-family homes, townhomes, or apartment complexes, as well as a large variety of commercial developments. The design process includes a high level of communication to coordinate with external and internal clients, contractors, municipalities, mechanical engineers, plumbers, architects, and more to ensure project success. Designing requires knowledge of city, county, and district requirements to properly design the various pipe networks so the water, sewer, and rainfall flow correctly, allowing proper drainage.
The day-to-day of doing home site grading CAD: Set the elevation of the home on a single lot and sculpt the land around it to ensure proper drainage as required by the city so they will provide a permit to the builder to construct the home. The level of complexity varies from project to project, from homes on very basic lots to homes placed on a mountain slope.
The day-to-day of doing survey CAD: Creating detailed construction drawing packages for a wide range of civil engineering and architectural projects through strong communication, collaboration, and technical CAD drafting support for licensed engineers and surveyors. The role involves coordinating with project managers, municipalities, clients, and internal teams to ensure projects progress efficiently from initial surveys to final permit submittals. Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality through thorough QA/QC review processes, ensuring compliance with municipal codes and requirements, and supporting clients through the approval process with clear communication, problem-solving, and a commitment to project success.
The day-to-day of doing architectural CAD: You will work closely with architects, engineers, developers, and homeowners to transform concepts into buildable construction documents. The majority of your time will be spent using software such as Revit, Chief Architect, and AutoCAD to create detailed floor plans, elevations, and structural drawings. Drawings include specific dimensions, material call-outs, and construction notes that enable contractors to physically construct the structure on site.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and incorporating redlines (marked-up revisions) resulting from client requests, building code updates, design changes, or budget adjustments.
- Collaborating with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers to identify and resolve spatial clashes, a crucial part of preventing costly construction errors.
- Cross-referencing drawings against local building codes and zoning ordinances to ensure compliance.
