The Mapleton Heights residential development, situated near Maple Mountain and the Lateral Canal Trail, boasts stunning views of Utah Valley and includes two planned access points to US-89. FOCUS transportation engineers were engaged to design these accesses, ensuring compliance with UDOT requirements for the necessary permit while staying within project budgets. They widened US-89 to create dedicated right and left turn lanes for safer access, collaborating closely with both the developer, UDOT, and Mapleton City throughout the permit process. As design efforts concluded, UDOT requested FOCUS to coordinate with engineers from a simultaneous project across US-89, allowing for streamlined collaboration that saved time and costs. The improvements also included new signage, striping, and drainage enhancements.
