UTA Operator Restrooms
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) tasked FOCUS with designing operator rest rooms for its bus and train drivers at five existing bus transit facilities along the TRAX light rail line in Salt Lake and Davis counties. This project included the use of pre-fabricated restroom buildings, a newer concept for UTA. FOCUS worked diligently to assist UTA in selecting these pre-fabricated structures, working with manufacturers, and setting new standards that will influence future UTA projects. The project’s core objective was to design sites with water, sewer, power, and grading to accommodate these pre-fabricated buildings for bus operators. To ensure seamless communication and coordination between various stakeholders, FOCUS held weekly meetings with UTA and its internal team to maintain alignment on project progress. The team also maintained consistent contact with the pre-fabricated building manufacturer to ensure UTA’s requirements were met. In addition, FOCUS collaborated with UTA and city authorities to address the complexities of utility tie-ins, given the unique grading of the sites. These efforts, combined with effective cost management, ensured successful completion of the UTA operator restrooms.
