Lifeline Church
The Lifeline Church Building is a two-story, 15,000 SF addition to an existing 5,000 SF commercial building. The existing structure was remodeled to house classrooms. A 612-seat sanctuary, spacious lobby and second-level offices were added adjacent to the existing structure. The structure is composed of reinforced masonry shear walls, steel framing and light-gauge steel stud walls.
There were several unique challenges involved in designing this structure, including modifications of an existing wall for shear strength, horizontal
irregularities, variations in wall thickness, modifications and strengthening of existing steel roof joists to support additional loads, and balcony design.
Due to the complexities of the multiple building materials and the horizontal irregularities, FOCUS used the structural analysis program RAM Structural Systems and RAM Elements to analyze and design the structure.
